FESTIVAL OF ARTS "POSTER" EXHIBIT AT WELLS FARGO
Laguna Beach, CA - A retrospective of Festival of Arts annual posters from the past 25 years is now on display at the downtown Laguna Beach Wells Fargo through January 11, 2010. Over the years many images for posters have been produced for the purpose of highlighting the Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters.
Exhibit Curator Pat Sparkuhl commented, "While organizing and installing the Festival of Arts Poster exhibit I was impressed with the uniqueness that each of the participating artists expressed through the artwork they created.”
The posters’ subject matter expresses various styles, classical, traditional and contemporary. The poster exhibit portrays not only the history of the Festival of Arts, but also that of Laguna Beach. Included are the 1996 poster "Casa La Vita e Bella" by Caroline Zimmermann, the 1993 Festival of Arts poster by Eugene Kaspin called “Moss Point Beach” and the 2009 Festival poster “Crystal Cove Surf” by Todd Kenyon. Other posters include reproductions of paintings by Hal Akins, Edmund Ashby, Ken Auster, Sandra Jones Campbell, Agnes Copeland, Jack Dudley, Marci Lyster, Jacobus, Michael Jacques, Mark Jacobucci, Eugene Kaspin, Mark Kerckhoff, Roger Kuntz, Todd Kenyon and Caroline Zimmermann. There are also Pageant of the Masters posters from the 2005 “On the Road” designed by Brenda Bredvik and 2007 “Young at Heart” featuring N. C. Wyeth’s “The Giant”.
In addition, on display are items sold in the gift shop during Festival season and on the website year-round. Many of the Festival of Arts posters and souvenirs may be purchased online at www.LagunaFestivalofArts.org or call 949-464-4203 for more information. An online winter sale with all merchandise at 45% off runs through January 31st. Marketing Director Sharbie Higuchi said, "Visit the Festival’s online gift shop and take advantage of the 45% off merchandise discount offer. You’ll find affordable, collectible and artful gifts for your friends and family members that are uniquely Laguna, or perhaps even something for yourself.”
The exhibit is on the third floor of the Wells Fargo building at 260 Ocean Avenue, Laguna Beach. It is part of an ongoing series of shows that the Festival of Arts is having at Wells Fargo this year. The Sawdust Festival has an exhibit on the main floor of the building, while Community Art Project (CAP) has an exhibit on the second level. The building is open to the public Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m.– 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Admission is free. The Festival of Arts is a non-profit organization whose proceeds support the arts in and about Laguna Beach. For more information call 949-464-4282.
